Louis Erard and Konstantin Chaykin reunite once again to leap into the unexpected. The Unfrogettable is their latest collaborative creation, a 178-piece collector's edition that turns fairytale into mechanical craft.
A FROG WITH A WARRIOR’S HEART
At the centre of this whimsical creation is a character drawn from Slavic folklore and Japanese symbolism. The frog, known as a spell in disguise in Russia and a sign of luck and resilience in Japan, becomes a charming anomaly that is part creature, part talisman, entirely unforgettable. This time, Louis Erard and Chaykin push the concept further. The Unfrogettable features a reworked case in Grade 5 titanium, slimmer and more compact at 40mm, housing a horizontally flipped regulator dial that stares straight at you with its signature rolling eyes.
From the arrow-tipped central minutes hand to the pupils that track the passing hours and seconds, every element serves the story. The colour palette reinforces the attitude with dark green or purple dials, lacquered nostrils, and animated eyes that grin and glare with delight.
DESIGNED TO DISRUPT
Form follows function, but with a twist. The crown now sits at 12 o’clock, a playful nod to its royal status. The strap is made from hand-rubbed Himeji Kurozan leather, historically used in samurai armour, finished with Japanese Urushi lacquer for depth and distinction. Every detail, from green or purple stitching to the rabbit leather lining, is curated to surprise, without compromising comfort or craftsmanship.
Inside beats the Sellita SW266-1, a Swiss-made automatic regulator movement with a customised openworked rotor bearing the Louis Erard insignia. While the watch wears its grin on the outside, the mechanics inside remain serious with 31 jewels, 28,800 vph, and a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. It’s a high-performance calibre tucked inside a case that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Each Unfrogettable is engraved “1 of 178” and offered in two colourways that are deep green or playful purple, each as audacious as the other.
